SITE HELP
Introduction
The purpose of this site is to share ideas on a number
of issues through a global exchange of information
in purely electronic format, including documents, presentations,
photos and videos.
The site has three main parts, each with separate user
accounts: the Issuescast Forum
(FuseTalk icon located in the lower left corner), the Trade
Files Area (links in the menus to
the left), and the Store (links
in the page header). There are also an academic
materials section and photo
album, both whose posting and viewing privileges are
determined by the site administrator.
How It Works
The Issuescast Forum is designed to be a free exchange of ideas and computer files. It features a file attachment capability for all users and chat and private messages for members. Members also can subscribe to particular topics of interest in order to receive an automatic email anytime a new message is posted.
The Trade Files Area enables users to buy and sell any kind of computer file, such as word processing documents, Powerpoint presentations, JPEG and GIF photos, MP3 music files, and Realplayer, Media Player, and Quicktime videos. Member pages are created for both the sale and purchase of files. Files on these pages then can be sorted by type and viewed or downloaded from any computer connected to the internet. Sellers upload files for sale by category and are reimbursed for every purchase at 80% of the selling price that they themselves determine. Credit card numbers used for purchasing these files are not stored in any database on the server.
As users share ideas and files in the forum and trade areas, the site administrator will compile CD's of common interest for sale on the site. The goal is to allow users to learn more about an issue in a variety of multimedia formats on a single CD. Buyers' credit card numbers will be kept in their secure store account for convenient shopping.
